Influenza (the flu) is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses. It can cause mild to severe illness, and at times can lead to death. Flu season in the U.S. occurs in the fall and winter.

The best way to prevent the flu is by getting vaccinated each year. The CDC recommends that everyone 6 months and older get their yearly flu vaccine as soon as they become available. A single dose of the 2014-2015 flu vaccine will protect against the three influenza viruses that research indicates will be most common during the season.  This includes an influenza A (H1N1) virus, an influenza A (H3N2) virus, and an influenza B virus. Children aged 6 – 35 months will receive a “quadrivalent” vaccine that protects against the above three variants, plus a fourth influenza strain known as Victoria Lineage.

Facey is providing flu vaccines to our patients at each of our primary care locations, on a walk-in basis. The vaccine will also be available for patients who have scheduled a visit with their primary care physician or OB/GYN, at the offices listed below.
