Learn about the benefits and side effects of using medications and insulin to treat diabetes. How to make lifestyle and dietary changes and to become aware of both acute and long-term complications of diabetes will also be covered.
Our multi-disciplinary team includes endocrinologists, primary care providers, dietitians and diabetes educators who work together with our patients to help them learn to control and maintain their glucose levels and to promote better health.
A referral from a Facey doctor is necessary for this program. Offered in Spanish also.

Simple lifestyle changes can delay or prevent the development of diabetes mellitus type 2 in at-risk individuals. This 2-part program (and in some cases combined in one) will provide participants with information about how to make lifestyle changes such as improving diet, increasing physical exercise, losing weight and reducing stress. Offered in Spanish also. |

Knowing what to expect helps patients make good recoveries after knee or hip replacement surgery. Patients learn about who will be taking care of them at every stage, the details of blood transfusions, medications they will most likely be given, the anticipated length of the surgery, when family may visit, the nature of post-operative physical therapy and much more.

| Healthier Living |
If you have ongoing health problems, this 6-part series of workshops is for you! The Healthier Living program was designed by Stanford University for people who:
- have an ongoing health problem
- are family or friends of someone with an ongoing health problem
- are interested in becoming more physically and socially active
Over the course the Healthier Living workshop you will learn how to:
- Cope with the "blues," frustrations and worries
- Reduce fatigue, anxiety and pain
- Communicate better with your doctors, friends and family
- Set goals and problem solve to make positive changes
- Eat better and stick to a healthy diet
- Better manage health problems to lessen the impact on your life
This highly informative program is free of charge to Facey patients and their families. The program consists of six consecutive weekly classes lasting 2 1/2 hours each.
