California still requires masks to be worn in health care settings. Patients, physicians and staff will be required to continue wearing masks at all Facey locations. Everyone over age 12 is now eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine in California and certain adults over 18 are eligible for a third booster shot if they received the Pfizer vaccine. Learn more.

Facey Medical Group Expands Wellness Offerings with New Yoga Program

Facey Medical Group has launched an exciting and innovative restorative yoga program for patients struggling with mild to moderate chronic low back pain. Michael Nelson, M.D., a physician at Facey Porter Ranch and the group's medical director for managed care, recognized the potential benefit this alternative therapy option could have for the large number of our patients with chronic low back pain, and committed to pioneering this innovative program.

According to the National Institute for Health, evidence supports the short and long-term benefits of yoga to ease chronic low back pain. Research demonstrates that yoga is an equally effective alternative to physical therapy for this condition. With the help of Dr. Nelson, our Patient Education department formally launched a 15-week restorative yoga program on March 7th at Facey's Mission Hills Annex to a packed room of patients excited to do yoga for the very first time. Those enrolled in the program have shared that after only three sessions, they are already noticing benefits including decreased intensity of back pain, improved sleep and improved core and lower back stability.
